Are the Services in the Greek Orthodox Church in Greek?

by Generous Orthodoxy on April 15, 2011

I'm going to visit a local Greek Orthodox church and if the services are in Greek then I am not game for that. I speak English and Portuguese.

I don’t think they’re in Greek in the U.S., if that’s what you’re asking.

I have never gone, but I know that the Green Orthodox church in my city have their services both in Greek and English. I think it would be interesting to hear it in Greek. But I’m fascinated by things like that. You might enjoy it even if you don’t understand it. It’s part of the service. See how it goes before you say no. It’s worth seeing it.

It depends on the parish. You can also visit other Eastern Orthodox Churches in your area: http://orthodoxyinamerica.org/lr_v10/locator.php
