When Can You Marry in the Orthodox Church?

by Generous Orthodoxy on January 4, 2011

I do not believe you can marry during the Easter Lenten period, what about the Christmas Lenten period? I know the Easter period varies every year, but the Christmas Lenten period does not. If it is possible, can you marry over the Thanksgiving weekend? Is the traditional day for an Orthodox Saturday or Sunday?

Go to your local Orthodox Church, and enquire with the priest when you may marry.

You can’t marry on any fasting days, but some bishops abolish fast on Thanksgiving. Ask your priest about details. The dratitional days for weddings are Friday afternoon of Sunday afternoon.
